I would like to share briefly about my professional growth over the last 24 years post bachelorship, and 21 years after having completed my Masters program. In the last 2 decades the journey through Clinical Dentsitry has been marvellous, to allow me to put into practice what was preached, depending upon the available resources around me. I have tried hard to incorporate many aspects into my professional life, the last being mentored into basic implantology 6 years ago. Clinical Documentation allowed me to undertake clinically based research and its outcome.
I have been able to work mostly on:
The art of sharing and teaching others to follow in this profession was developed over the years - as I rose to the level of Professor and Head of Department. I have co - authored and contributed Chapters as well as Clinical Cases in different Dental Textbooks. Clinical photography and documentation allowed me to collect data on many clinical cases that came back for review over these years. In the times of social media today, some of our work may be reviewed on Facebook by simply searching our clinic name - 'Ahal Dental Clinic' or 'Ahal Dental Clinic, Jammu'
To strive to bring awareness among the masses about the benefits and cost effectiveness of preventive & interceptive dental treatment.
To provide good quality dental care to the masses.
To bring about awareness among the parents, regarding the importance of milk teeth, preventive and interceptive techniques so as to prevent the need for corrective orthodontic treatment later on.
Have been a contributory author to the Textbook of Pediatric Dentistry - Dr. S.G. Damle, 5th Edition of the same was released on 17th January, 2017.
Co-authored 2 Chapters titled - "Preventive Orthodontics" & "Interceptive Orthodontics" in a clinical textbook titled - Textbook of Orthodontics by Dr.Gurkeerat Singh, published by Jaypee Brothers, in 2004 towards entry level post graduation student as well as the final year graduation level. The chapters were further updated with more clinical aspects in the 2nd Edition of the same, published in 2007.
Published a clinical paper titled, "And now, Pedo-Aesthetics" in the Famdent journal: Vol.2, Issue 2, Oct. to Dec. 2001, Pages 43 to 45.
A scientific paper published in 2 parts, titled "Posterior Palatal Seal Part I & II" in the Journal of Indian Dental Association: Vol.65, July 1994, Pages 219 to 221 and Vol.65, August 1994, Pages 232 to 233 respectively.
Presented a Guest Lecture - "Anterior Fracture Restorations" at The Delhi Expodent 2017 at the 3M ESPE - S5 to S10 Stall, Hall 12A on 23rd December, 2017 at New Delhi Pragati Maidan.
Presented a Guest Lecture, "The Invisible Hand" at the 12th JK Science Congress on 2nd March, 2017, on the emerging trends and Innovations related to Clinical Dentistry, at the Jammu University, Jammu.
Conducted a Lecture and Table Demostration on Composites, titled "Compoaesthetics" at Meerut, Uttar Pradesh on 18th September, 2016, under Indian Dental Association, Meerut Branch in close collaboration with 3M ESPE.
Conducted a Full day Hands on and presentation titled,"Naap ka kaya Impression Padta Hai" on 5th June, 2016 at Patiala, dealing with intricacies of crown preparations and impession making, under the agiesis of Indian Dental Association, Patiala, Punjab in close collaboration with 3M ESPE.
Presented on "Aesthetics in Dentistry" for the Future Dental Professionals Program by Colgate at Institute of Dental Sciences, Sehora, Jammu on 7th August, 2015, under the agesis of Colgate and Indian Dental Association.
Presented a Scientific Paper titled,"Myo-functional CAD/CAM - Clinical Cases" at the 49th Punjab State & Regional Dental Conference, 5th-6th December, 2009 at Pathankot, Punjab and was awarded as the Best Scientific Paper award.
Presented a scientific paper titled, " Metal Based Glass Ceramics", at the Scientific Deliberations of the Annual Dental Conference, held at Jammu Tawi on 28th November, 2004.
Presented a scientific paper titled,"CAD/CAM Myofunctional Appliances - Revolutionisng Interception of Malocclusion", at the FDI Annual World Dental Congress, held at New Delhi from 10th to 13th September, 2004
Presented a scientific paper titled, "Metaless Ceramic Crowns- A Clinical Persepective" at the 6TH J & K State Dental Conference-International, held at Srinagar from 20th to 21st September, 2003.
Presented a scientific paper titled, "Intercepting Non-Nutritive Sucking Habits-Preventing Malocclusion" at the 5TH Congress of Asian Academy of Preventive Dentistry (AAPD) and the 24TH Conference of Indian Society of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, held at P.G.I.M.E.R., Chandigarh from 14th to 16th November, 2002.
Presented another scientific paper titled, "Pediatric dentistry- Showing the Way" at the 7TH Annual Dental Conference of the Indian Dental Association, Jammu Branch, held on 30th December, 2001
Presented a paper titled, "Nursing Caries" at the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of XVIth Army Dental Corps, at Usman Officers Institute, Jammu, on May 10th, 1998, on being invited as a Guest Speaker as a part of their Silver Jubilee Celebrations.
Presented the research thesis titled, "Comparative Evaluation of Nd: YAG Laser Irradiation and Fluoride on Enamel Resistance against an Artificial Caries Attack System- An Vitro Study" at the 18th Asia Pacific Dental Congress and 50th Indian Dental Association, held at Bombay from 19th - 23rd January, 1996 with Dr. Shobha Tandon, M.D.S. as the co-author respectively.
Presented a paper titled, "Pre-pubertal Periodontitis; A case report" , at the XVIth Conference of the Indian Society of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, held at Mysore, from 12th to 14th January, 1995, under the guidance of Dr. Shobha Tandon, Prof. & Head, Dept. of Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, College of Dental Surgery, Manipal.

Masters in Dental Surgery - Pedodontics & Preventive Dentistry, College of Dental Surgery, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal in 1996.
The subject deals exclusively in assessing the dental problems related to children and preventing, intercepting and correcting the same before they become unmanageable. This speciality also works towards avoiding braces for chidren, if therapy is initiated in time or in the event of delayed treatment minimizes the same or stabilizes the aberrant growth pattern. Trained to handle children, including special chidren.

I was staff at the Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, Institute of Dental Sciences, Sehora near Jammu since 2007 and Professor and Head upto February 2017.
I have been in State of the Art Clinical Practice at Jammu Tawi since 1997 and have pioneered the introduction of many clinical concepts into Jammu for the delivery of high level and precise dental care to the masses as well as Pediatric Dentistry.
I have also recently been using di-ode laser in clinical dentistry towards rendering dental care.
I have been a Key Opinion Leader to 3M ESPE since 2007 and was invited to attend Symposium at Seefield, Munich Germany in July 2015. I have been contributing clinically to them from time to time including holding Continuing Dental Education Programs and Hands on for the burgeoning clinicians.
I have served as a Senior Resident at the Dental Department, Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, New Delhi, upto March, 1997. I underwent extensive training in treating Road Traffic Accident cases, Trauma cases and other surgical cases.
I have undergone extensive training during Masters in Dental Surgery, in treating special children under General Anaesthesia, apart of treating normal children using the latest techniques and dental materials as well as using preventive and interceptive techniques for irregular teeth.
I have worked clinically as Honorary Tutor at the Department of Periodontics, College of Dental Surgery, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal, under Prof. B. R. R. Verma.
I have undertaken gingival surgeries and various other preventive techniques towards attaining normal, healthy gingival health.

Was the President, Indian Dental Association - Jammu for the year 2010. The Indian Dental Association - Jammu Branch was resurrected after many years and had the highest number of members ever. The association was also able to launch the first ever newsletter- another first in the annals of the association in the state.
Was the incharge of the Scientific Program of the Inter-State and J&K State Annual conference- which was also a huge success as it was for the first time that scientific papers of good value and knowledge were presented in 2006.
